loranam.org can only recommend the use of devices in Namibia that have CRAN type approval or exemption.
Devices should support EU863-870 / EU868 and comply with CEPT Rec. 70-03.
If you would like a device listed here, please send details of the device, as well as CRAN type approval information to devices @ loranam.org.
Please refer to the current (2019) and proposed CRAN regulations (2023) for more information about type approval requirements.
The proposed regulations in 2023 (Government Gazette 8002 published 5 January 2023) includes “Annexure B” for Regulation 16 that lists Telecommunications Equipment Exempted from Type Approval. Equipment matching the categories in this annexure are exempted from the Type Approval process, but will need to be entered into CRAN’s “type approval exemption register”.
LoRaWAN sensors (Short Range Devices/SRD) operating in EU868 will be exempt from Type Approval.
LoRaWAN gateways still need Type Approval.
